Frequently Asked Questions

Before booking a service, you may have a few questions that you would liked to be clarified. See below our FAQ's.

Q: Do I need to hire a professional makeup artist for my wedding day?
A: A professional makeup artist will ensure the appropriate products i.e. textures, colours and tones are selected, whilst staying in line with your wedding vision. You're hiring a professional make-up artist for their professional expertise and experience.

Q: I feel confident in applying my own makeup, do you offer make up lessons?

A: If you feel confident applying your own make up, you may wish to opt for a Bridal Make up Lesson. Nicky can take you through the steps of preparing the skin through to completion of your bridal make up. During the lesson you will be using your own products, and key products will be recommended to add to your make up bag.

Q: How far in advance should I book my bridal make up?

A: Nicky's diary is often booked up to 12 months in advance, therefore it is recommended that you book as soon as possible.

Q: How do I know if there is availability and how do I secure a booking?

A: Services are booked on a first come, first reserve basis. To reserve your date, please head over to the Bookings and Services page and request the service you require; this will then give visibility of Nicky's calendar. Once you have requested your date, a non-refundable reservation fee of £150.00 for Bride only bookings or £250 for Bridal Party bookings is required to reserve your day. Q: Do you travel to the wedding venue to provide bridal make up?

A: Absolutely! You can look forward to the luxury of being pampered with your bridal party, as Nicky and the team will travel to your wedding venue. Please see the T&C's for travel costs and if necessary hotel requirements.

Q: Can I have a trial run of my wedding day make up?

A: Bridal Trials are recommended for all brides. The wedding day is not the time to be experimenting with your wedding make up look. Ideally, it is best to schedule your trial 3 - 6 months prior to your wedding day. This will help to alleviate any worry around the overall look. Bridal Trials are carried out at Nicky's Studio, usually on a Saturday or Sunday depending on availability.

To prepare for your Bridal Trial, arrive with your eyebrows shaped, any unwanted hair removed, and your hair groomed. It often helps to wear a top/shirt which is a similar colour to your wedding dress. Take with you photos of inspiration looks that you like; this will help you to communicate ideas. Nicky will discuss the details of your wedding, including the style of your dress, flowers, colour scheme, hair, bridesmaids’ dresses etc.

Q: Where can I find inspiration for my wedding look?

A: Some great places to look for inspirational photos are in our Gallery, Pinterest, Bridal magazines, Instagram and celebrity looks on the red carpet. Please keep in mind many of the looks social media may be filtered.

Q: I am allergic to a specific product or ingredient, what should I do?

A: It is the clients responsibility to make Nicky aware of any products, skin issues, allergies, or sensitivity to equipment or anything that may affect the service or performance of the makeup.

Q: Will I need to wear heavy makeup on the day?

A: The bridal service is about enhancing your natural features and creating a look that you feel comfortable wearing.

Q: What look should I choose for the Bridal Party?

A: Once the brides look has been finalised, Nicky will explore looks you have in mind for your bridal party. Of course, everyone wants to feel comfortable in the makeup they’ll be wearing, but it’s also important to make sure that the looks are cohesive with each other and the overall vision on of the day.
